Kansas City, MO -- On Saturday, March 17, 2012, the New Era District Laymen held their annual Junior Laymen Bible Bowl Championship. It was held at 5:00 p.m. in the afternoon at the Western Baptist Bible College. There were three contestants including Markus Snead from the St. Mark Baptist Church, the reigning National Bible Bowl champion. The other two contestants were from the Paradise and Ebenezer Baptist churches. They were first time contestants and 10 and 12 years old respectively. Markus Snead (blue shirt) won the New Era championship for the fourth consecutive year. This win marks the beginning of his defense of the National Championship. Snead now heads to the state championship to be held on April 28th in Mexico, Missouri at the Missouri State Laymen annual Louis B. Parker State Workshop, Bible Bowl and Luncheon. Curtis Hammons, Sr. is the president of the New Era District Laymen. He succeeded Luther Lewis in July 2011 after Lewis completed his tenure. Grant Lewis is the New Era District Laymen Director of Junior Laymen Work. He has been coordinating the district bible bowl for serveral years. The bible bowl continues to be one of the highlights of the district junior laymen program. |
