Dear State Laymen Presidents:

The National Baptist Laymen's Special Projects fund raising effort is held each January during the convention's Mid-Winter Board meeting.

The funds raised go toward the laymen's projects that are conducted domestically and internationally. The fund raising effort concludes on Thursday morning  of the session with a breakfast at which the amounts contributed by each state will be announced.

Historically the National Laymen have asked the state convention laymen presidents to solicit $2,500.00 and present it at the breakfast on behalf of their state. We still ask you to do that, if you can.

However, the State Presidents Council has sent a letter containing a minimum contribution per state. The Council has looked at a number of criteria concerning each state to arrive at the minimum for each state.

If your state cannot contribute the historical amount, we ask that you at least prepare to contribute the minimum that is set forth in the State President's Council letter.

This is the last Special Projects fund raising effort and Special Projects breakfast under the current administration, so let us make it one of the best ever.

Also, do all you can to encourage as many from your state as possible to buy a ticket and attend this breakfast. Tickets are $25.00. Let's have a full house.

We really need your help in making all of this happen. REMEMBER, NO MORE ZEROS BY STATE NAMES. ONLY YOU CAN PREVENT IT!

Again, we thank you in advance for your cooperation in making the event a great one.

In the Masters Service,

James E. Deen, Vice President, Southeast Region
George Givens, Chairman
Harold L. Simmons, President
Thad Jones, General Secretary
