Daniel Ridgeway Marries Sasha A. Whitaker

 

Detroit, MI -- On December 21, 2013, Daniel Ridgeway married Sasha A. Whitaker.

 

Ridgeway is a former National Junior Laymen president who gave his address in 2006 in Baltimore, MD. He is the son of Jeff and Eve Ridgeway, both national officers.

 

Daniel along with his twin brother David grew up in the junior laymen movement in the local, district, state and national levels. Both served as junior laymen president consecutively from 2006 - 2007.

 

Daniel and David announced their calling to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and has been going to college.

 

The ceremony was held at the Oasis of Hope Christian Church in Highland Park, MI.

Simmons to be Special Guest at the 36th Annual Workers Conference

Somerset, NJ -- President Harold Simmons will be the special guest of the state laymen of the General Baptist State Convention of New Jersey this coming weekend, February 7 - 8, 2014.

 

Simmons was invited by New Jersey laymen president and national Vice President-at-Large Willie Burke to be their guest lecturer and speaker. The 36th Annual Workers Conference is sponsored by the convention's Congress of Christian Education auxiliary.

 

Simmons will specially be teaching a course on, "Biblical Men in Solidarity with the Savior".

 

The weekend will provide opportunities for:

  • Choice of 21 Ministry Modules
  • Worship Experience on Friday Evening
  • Dinner on Friday
  • Breakfast and lunch on Saturday
  • Multiple opportunities for reflection and fellowship

The conference will be held at the First Baptist Church of Lincoln Gardens where Rev. Dr. DeForest B. Soaries, Jr. is senior pastor.

Snoddy and Texas Educational Laymen to Sponsor Laymen Revival

Longview, TX -- The Texas Educational Baptist State Convention laymen where Melvin Snoddy is president will be sponsoring a weekend of activities that includes a laymen's revival February 7 - 9, 2014.

 

It will be held at the Pleasant Green Baptist Church in Longview, TX where Rev. Richard Holloway is pastor.

 

The weekend will include a musical, workshop, revival and men's day celebration. Special guests for the weekend will be James Girley, Blue Mountain, MS, Ozell Wright, Covington, TN and Rev. Fred Rusk, Hallsville, TX.

 


 

 

 

Woods and Missouri Junior Laymen Department to Sponsor Black History Program

Columbia, MO -- On this coming Saturday, February 8, 2014, Rev. Anthony Woods and the Missouri State Laymen Junior Laymen Department will sponsor their annual Black History Program.

 

It will be held at the Friendship Baptist Church in Columbia, MO.

 

The highlight of the program will be where junior laymen from across the state will compete in an Essay Contest. The essay topic is, "The I Have A Dream Speech: Evaluating 50 Years Later, (A Youth's Perspective)?

 

Rev. Anthony Woods serves as the state director of Junior Laymen Work, Delester Jefferson is the state laymen president and Rev. Caroles Taylor is the host pastor.

 

 

New Era Nebraska State Laymen to Host 2014 Laymen's Convention

Omaha, NE -- The New Era Baptist Convention of Nebraska laymen will continue their laymen's convention that began on January 31st with a closeout service on their annual laymen's day on Sunday, February 9, 2014.

 

Louis Richardson is the president and will give his annual address. The convention is being held at the Zion Baptist Church where Rev. Kenneth Allen is the host pastor.

 

Their theme for the week is, "God's Men on God's Mission". Ephesians 5:1.

 

Rev. Cedric Perkins is the convention president.

 

 

Atlantic City, New Jersey Work Week

April 14 - 18, 2014

The National Baptist Laymen's Movement in conjunction with the National Disaster Management Commission is sponsoring a second work week in Atlantic City, NJ.

 

The work week is designed to help restore homes of victims of Super Storm Sandy.

 

MacArthur McGriggs, the chairman of the national laymen disaster work is recruiting volunteers with skills in sheet-rock hanging.
