Deacon William L. Pointer Passes Away

 

National Baptist Laymen's Movement     July 24,2015   Deacon William L. Pointer Passes Away   Oxford, North Carolina   Dear Fellow Laymen & Supporters:   William L. Pointer, Sr., 84 a resident of 5000 Fairport Road, passed Saturday, July 18, 2015 at Universal Health Care in Oxford, North Carolina. He was born to the parentage of the late Willie Alston Pointer and Rosetta Downey Pointer.   William was a former Educator and Principal in the Granville County School system. He was a member of New Jonathan Creek Baptist Church where he served as Deacon and various other capacities and also a Veteran of the United States Army. Deacon Williams was very active in the laymen's movement locally, district and state wide. He was also a great supporter of the National Baptist Laymen's Movement.   Those left to cherish his memories include two sons, William L. Pointer, Jr. and Rodney Junious Pointer; daughter, Katherine P. Moore; two brothers, Louis W. Pointer of Fayetteville, GA and Charles W. Pointer of Baltimore, MD and several grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm Sunday, July 26 at First Baptist Church in Oxford with eulogy by Rev. Willie S. Darby. Burial will follow in the New Jonathan Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.   The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm Friday at the Funeral Home and other times at the residence. The family of WILLIAM L.
