Adopt-a-School Ministry Receives New Leader

New Focus

Charles Ewing

Charles Ewing

Memphis, TN -- The Adopt-a-School ministry that has been some what dormant in the last couple of years has a renewed focus. President Simmons appointed Charles Ewing of Memphis, Tennessee to give leadership and place more emphasis on this vital ministry that the Church can provide to the schools in the urban core of our cities.

Ewing along with the State President's Advisory Council where Ernest Tinsley is chairman, have developed a new vision for the ministry.

The committee has developed information and materials that will assist any church in beginning or enhancing a relationship with a local school. Given the alarming statistics concerning the high school dropout rate of African-American boys, and the detrimental lifelong affects of dropping out, this is a significant, potentially impactful ministry that every church should seriously consider.

Ewing and the committee made a presentation and passed out brochures at the Indianapolis Congress outlining how laymen and churches can participate, design and set up an Adopt-a-School ministry.

During the National Baptist Convention Annual Session this coming September 5 - 9 in Orlando, Florida,  the committee will be making a presentation to each of the laymen classes. This will give each of the delegates the opportunity to learn more about this new ministry and to ask questions about how the ministry can be implemented in their church.

Ewing from Memphis, TN, is President/CEO of the company he owns, Ewing Moving Service, Inc.
Ewing donates his time and resources to numerous charitable causes.  He serves on several local, regional and national boards of directors in hopes that he can help make life better for those around him.  Some of the organizations he and Ewing Moving Service supports are:
