Kansas City Transformer Program Soars Lewis LeadsTransformer Image

Grant Lewis

Grant Lewis

Kansas City, MO -- At the New Era District Association's Annual Session this past July, Minister Grant Lewis was appointed Director of Junior Laymen Work. He succeeded long time director Martin Clark who became one of the senior laymen vice presidents.

Lewis had worked under Clark for many years. New Era has always had a strong district junior laymen program. So when Lewis became director, he just needed to take it to another level.

Immediately following the annual session, Lewis began to put his personal touch on the program and implement his vision.

Lewis wanted the program to transform young men's live, there by the name Transformers. They meet monthly at Western Baptist Bible College in Kansas City on the third Saturday of each month where they have plenty of classroom space and a chapel area for their group assemblies.

Since beginning in October, the number of boys in attendance has increased each month from the participating district churches. The numbers are:

October 20

November 25

December 34

January 36 from 11 churches.

Lewis is using for the primary curriculum for the boys the study guide for boys written by Ernest Tinsley, National Laymen Assistant Vice President.
