Omaha, NE -- The men of Salem Baptist Church of Omaha, Nebraska is sponsoring 40 Days of Prayer and Bible Study.

 

The praying of men for 40 days will begin on February 29, 2012 and end on Easter Sunday, April 8, 2012. Prayer will start at 5:00 a.m. cst.

 

At this time, all 40 days have not been committed.

 

Rodney Nichols who is coordinating the effort is asking laymen from across the country to call him and sign up to participate in this effort.

 

Nichols and the Salem men are asking for men to come together in a conference call setting and pray for:

 

1. Spiritual revival in our communities and country.

2. The addition of souls to the Kingdom of God.

3. Our pastors and church families.

4. A Year of Expectations

Black History Museum - A Black History Month Highlight 

 

Thomasville, GA -- James "Jack" Hadley got acquainted with the National Baptist Laymen's Movement's during 9/11week. The week when America was attacked in New City and the World Trade Towers were destroyed.

 

He and a delegation from Thomasville, GA attended their first Walter Cade, Jr. Southeast Region Workshop. It was a life changing event.

 

Hadley went back and organized a laymen's movement in his church and two years ago organized a laymen department in his district association.

 

Several years ago, Hadley retired Air Force, established a Black History museum in his home town of Thomasville, GA. It is the only Black History museum in Thomasville.

 

To highlight persons who have made a significant impact to the community during Black History Month, TV station WCTV highlighted Hadley and his museum this past week during their broadcast.

Birmingham, AL -- National Baptist Laymen's Movement's Director of Junior Laymen Work, Alvin Moore, was recently highlighted in The Birmingham News for his work with youth.

 

Moore was the 2011 John L. Webb award recipient this past September in Orlando, FL as the Layman of the Year.

 

Moore gives leadership to the Junior Laymen Department that includes the basketball tournament, bible bowl and Allen Jordan Seminar.

Minister Darrell Partlow Passes Away

Local, District, State Junior Laymen Counselor 

 

Dear Friends:

 

Minister Darrell Partlow, Sr., 57, passed away on Sunday, February 12, 2012.

He was a member of True Love Missionary Baptist Church, 8200 Tireman St., Detroit, MI. 48204

Partlow was the local boys work coordinator, and was very active in Junior Laymen work in the Prospect District Association and the B.M.& E.Michigan State Convention. He supported the National Baptist Laymen's Movement.

 

Partlow, through the local church and the state laymen have sponsored junior laymen contestants in the National Bible Bowl on several occasions. He worked under the leadership of Thomas Anderson and Earl Granberry.

Lillian Gipson passed away on February 8, 2012. She is the aunt of Charles Bateman who serves with the Missouri State Laymen and Berean District Laymen. Bateman also serves as Mt. Bethel Missionary Baptist Church's laymen president and the Berean District's financial secretary.
