Matthew SimmonsOxford, MS -- On Saturday, July 14, 2012 Matthew Simmons turned 90 years old. Rosie Goosby and the friends of Brother Simmons surprised him with a birthday party to honor him and give recognition of this great blessing.

Simmons is a long time laymen who supports his local, district and state organizations. He has served in many capacities and continues to support when he can.

Simmons is an armed service veteran where he has received a Purple Heart (left) for his dedicated service for his country. He received a birthday note from the President of the United States of America, President Obama and Mrs. Obama.

Simmons is a World War II veteran where in his laymen's services used those leadership he learned in the armed services to be persistent and faithful to the laymen causes and activities.

Simmons believes he still has something to offer the young men of the movement and can impart wisdom and knowledge to assist them in the work of the kingdom.

There were many family and friends in attendance as they celebrated his longevity, his friendly spirit and his love for all people.

Simmons believe age is just a number and looks forward to many more birthdays.
