Hot Springs, AR -- This past weekend, July 20 - 22, 2012, the Walter Cade, Jr. Southwest Workshop (Mississippi, Texas, Louisiana, Alabama, Tennessee, Arkansas) convened in the city of Hot Springs, Arkansas. Hot Springs is noted for being the home city of first laymen president John L. Webb. Webb served from 1923 to 1946. He convened the first laymen's session in 1924 in Nashville, TN. There were more than 400 in attendance for the workshop and more than 600 at the banquet. There were approximately 40 persons in attendance who were attending their first Walter Cade workshop. | Alabama State President A.L. Folmar (c) and National 1st Vice President Richard Showers, Jr. (AL) receives the Most Delegates Trophy | Alabama won the trophy with the most delegates for the third consecutive year. They had 127 paid delegates. The totals for the other states were: 127 - Alabama 100 - Mississippi 83 - Texas 75 - Tennessee 39 - Arkansas 6 - Louisiana Isaiah Ward from Mississippi was the bible bowl winner on Friday night. The keynote speaker for the Saturday banquet was A. L. Folmar, president of the Alabama State Laymen. More than 80 people attended the street service on Saturday afternoon with Rev. Bobby Land from Tyler, Texas serving as the street evangelist. Bill Campbell serves as the program coordinator. |
