Madison County, MS Laymen Walk Against Hunger 
 
Madison County Baptist Association Laymen (GMBSC), Canton MS Assisted in raising funds in the  "Walk Against Hunger"
  
On this past Saturday, November 2, 2013, the Madison County Baptist Association Laymen of Canton, Mississippi (GMBSC) participated in their first Walk Against Hunger to support the ministries of Our Daily Bread. Our Daily Bread is a soup kitchen, food pantry, meals on wheels program and clothing closet located in Canton, MS.


 
The walk was a city-wide event that started at 8:00 a.m. on the square in downtown Canton, MS. There were over 75 people  present including the mayor of Canton, chief of police and different churches and organizations. Persons supported this event by making monetary donations and participating in a 5K run/walk event.  
 
An Award ceremony was held at the start/finish area for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners of the 5K run/walk.
 
Laymen participating in this charitable event was Cornelius Johnson, Perry Davis, Otha "Jay Bird" Brown, Anthony Denton, LC Mitchell, Timothy Johnson Jr., William Franklin and Otis Davis.
 
This event raised approximately $7,500.00 dollars and they are still collecting donations.  The Laymen from the Madison County chapter were very honored be a part of this event, being servants and making a difference in people's lives.
