2010 National Bible Bowl Champion | | | January - March 2010  The National Baptist Laymen 2009 - 2010 year began with the convention's annual Mid-Winter Board meeting. It was held in Nashville, Tennessee. the laymen's session was held at the Millennium Maxwell House Hotel.
The laymen's session opened up early with a State President's Advisory Council session on the weekend preceding the official opening on Tuesday.
The laymen had a full lineup of the best speakers that the convention has to offer. Tuesday morning was Rev. Larry Hawkins (top), Dr. Elliotte Cuff, (2nd) dean of the Congress of Christian Education preached Tuesday afternoon, Dr. William Easter of Little rock, AR delivered the Wednesday morning message and Dr. George Waddles, Sr. (third), president of the Congress delivered the Wednesday afternoon message.
The session closeout message was preached by Dr. Jimmy Brown, (bottom) president of the Missouri State Convention and National Convention Vice President.
Brown's message was delivered at the laymen's annual Special Projects Breakfast.
The week also included reports from the various ministries on their plans for the 2010.
 The annual Special Projects Breakfast was held on Thursday, January 21, 2010. The proceeds are designed to go to laymen ministries, projects and operations. The first three with the most contributed to laymen ministries were:
Mississippi General State Convention, President L. C. Mitchell receives the plaque. (top) $3,370.00
Alabama State Convention, President Al Folmar receives the plaque for second place. (center) $3,275.00
Mt. Olive Baptist Convention of New Mexico receives the plaque for third place. (bottom) $1,500.00
There were thirty-two persons who attended the State President's Advisory three day summit.
| | April - June 2010 April is the month that the National laymen's Walter Cade, Jr. Workshop season opens up. The Western-Farwest, I. V. Reeves, Coordinator was held the weekend of April 16 - 18, 2010 in the city of Los Angeles, CA. and hosted by the California Western Laymen.
Some of the highlights were Western Baptist State Praise Team on Friday night, Saturday classes and the banquet.
The Western-Midwest, Glen Chelf, Coordinator, was held on the weekend of April 23 - 25, 2010 in the city of Omaha, NE. This is the first time the Nebraska laymen have hosted as a member of the Western-Midwest Region.
New classes were added for this workshop, Christian Character and How It Develops, How to Become a Strong Christian Black Man, Developing Christian Morals in an Immoral World, How to Become a Strong Christian Black Woman, Foundation of Christian Ethics and Eductional Development of the African American in the 21st Century.
 The National Congress of Christian Education was held in Houston, TX at the George R. Brown Convention Center. It was the 105th Congress and the 30th Allen Jordan Seminars.
The laymen held their annual activities, Junior Laymen Basketball Tournament, Junior Laymen Bible Bowl, classes, Missions in Education & Evangelism Luncheon, lectureship series and evangelistic work.
National Junior Laymen Day was held on Thursday (top photo) at the Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church, The street evangelistic service (center photo) was held at Cuney Homes and the full ine up of Dr. Allen Jordan Seminar classes (bottom photo) was held at the George R. Brown convention Center. | 
| | Dr. Nathan Johnson | Dr. Nathan Johnson of Detroit, Michigan was the lecturer for this year. His messages were, Tuesday, A Defining Moment, Wednesday, In Spite of Life Style and Friday, Preparation for Take Off.
All of his lectures were will attended. Dr. Johnon had lectured for the laymen at the 2001 Congress.
The two-day National Basketball tournamnet was won by the Louisiana basketball team.
The final results were:
1st - Louisana
2nd - Michigan
3rd - Kansas
The other participants were Texas and Missouri. | | | Narique Gibbs | Narique Gibbs of New Jersey won the National Bible Bowl championship. This is his first time winning.

| | July - September 2010  The Walter Cade, Jr. Southwest Region, (Texas, Mississippi, Arkansas, Alabama, Tennessee, Louisiana) held their annual workshop in Lafayette, LA. Bill Campbell is the coordinator.
The workshop was held on the weekend of July 23 - 25, 2010. The theme for the workshop was Solidarity with the Savior, Christians Preparing Themselves for Service.
The workshop included ten breakout classes, three lectures and one newly developed class for pastors titled, Pastoring in the 21st Century.
There were more than 700 attending the banquet on Saturday night. The keynote speaker was Walter McKinney of Texas. Alabama (bottom photo) won the attendance award with 183 delegates.
Three persons accepted Christ during the street ministry.
The bible bowl was held on Friday night. The results were:
1st - Trevon White, LA
2nd - Dexter Covin, TN
3rd - Lawrence Miles, LA
4th - Austin Rayford, MS
 The laymen took their Fifth Fellowship Cruise for August 7 - 12, 2010. The cruise ship is the Triumph by Carnival Cruise Lines.
Dr. George W. Waddles, Sr. and Dr. A. Louis Patterson were the special guest lecturers and preachers once again.

 The 130th Annual Session of the National Baptist Convention U.S.A., Inc. was held in Kansas City, Missouri the week of September 6 - 10, 2010 at the H. Roe Bartle Hall Convention Center.
The session opened up Tuesday morning with the 20th Annual Prayer Breakfast (top photo) with Betty Christian delivering the keynote address.
The program for the week consisted of the following speakers:

Walter Brown, Jr. of Tinton, New Jersey who serves as an Asst. Vice President in the Fellowship and Social Ministry was name Layman of the Year and was the recipient of the John L. Webb award.
During the convention the laymen's evangelistic ministries witnessed and ministered throughout the Kansas City metropolitan area. The Prison tam ministered at the Wyandotte County Jail in Kansas City, Kansas where twenty-seven volunteers participated in the effort.
Also the laymen debut a new ministry partnering with the Home Mission Department and Habitat for Humanity. Two houses were worked on.
 The Walter Cade, Jr. Southeast Region Workshop (South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, Florida, Georgia) held their 14th Annual workshop on the weekend of September 24- 26, 2010 in the city of Valdosta, GA. James Deen is the workshop program coordinator.
Georgia had the most delegates but the attendance award went to North Carolina due to the host state not being eligible to win. The attendance was:

39 - South Carolina
33 - Virginia
12 - Florida
The workshop was held at the Rainwater Conference Center. The Friday Youth Night consisted of the combined 11th District Youth Choir and the N-2-Him Litigereal Dancers & Angels of Praise Dancers.
The banquet keynote speaker was North Carolina president Richmond Turner.
The classes were Biblical Manhood, Biblical Womanhood, Organizing & Strengthening a Laymen's Movement, Evangelism, Ministering to Families in Crisis and Developing Junior Laymen.
| | October - December 2010  The Walter Cade, Jr. Midwest Region Workshop (Missouri, Ohio, Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan, Iowa, Indiana) convened on the weekend of October 22 - 24, 2010 in the city of Milwaukee, WI. Earl Granberry is the workshop program coordinator.
The theme for the workshop was Solidarity with the Savior.
Michale Julius served as the General Chairman for the workshop. It was jointly hosted with the General Baptist State Convention of Wisconsin where Albert Brown is the laymen president.
The highlight of Youth Night were the Greater Galilee Steppers for Christ, Darryl "Da Gift" Jackson and the Junior Laymen choir.
The workshop speakers were Mary Zupanc, MD, BS, Medical College of Wisconsin, Sister Tommie J. Coleman, Richard Harrell, IA and Rev. William Snorgrass of Missouri who delivered the Bible Exposition.
