Charleston, SC -- On this coming weekend, October 4 - 6, 2013, the states of Georgia, Virginia, Florida, South Carolina and North Carolina will meet for the 17th Annual Walter Cade, Jr. Southeast Workshop.

The workshop will convene in the city of Charleston, SC at Embassy Suites Hotel. Leroy Martin is the South Carolina Brotherhood state president. Other cities in South Carolina that has hosted the workshop has been Spartanburg and St. George.

 

National Laymen Vice President James Deen, Georgia, is the program coordinator for the workshop. He has a full line up of speakers, classes and activities scheduled for the weekend.

 

Martin and the male chorus singing group "Men of Praise" traveled to Charlotte, NC this past September to sing at president Harold Simmons' annual address during the NBCUSA, Inc. annual session.

 

The theme for the workshop is, "Becoming Equipped and Empowered for Service". Eph. 6:10-20.

 

For the Youth Program on Friday night, the Young Men of Praise, from South Carolina will provide the music and be the featured group.  There will be junior laymen speakers from each state.

Men Deeping Their Faith - Isaiah Hill, VA

Am I My Sister's Keeper? Serving Inside the Sand Box - Joice Tinsley, GA

Ministering to Families in Crisis - Rev. T. E. Simmons, SC

Biblical Sons Strong in Grace - Williams Graves and Ben Myrick, VA

Developing Christian Men - Brian Jones, NC

 

The General Assembly speakers are: 

The Role of the Laymen's Wife - Sara K. Cherry, GA 
The Laymen's Role In Supporting The Pastor - Florida representative
Thematic Sermon - Rev. Michael Talbot, NC 

The street evangelist will be Rev. Edward Simmons, SC 

The banquet speaker will be Brother Mark Giles, Virginia laymen president 

The closeout and Sunday morning speaker will be Rev. Winslow Hagans, NC
