Thanksgiving Wishes from our State Laymen President

LenoBlue100

Brethren,

As the holiday season approaches, it is especially heartwarming to see the many emails on request for help to feed families and provide gifts for those in need being filled by the State Laymen who gladly share their blessings with others (this is what we do). I am profoundly grateful for your generosity and the tremendous impact you make on the lives of those in need.

I recognize that our community sharing occurs throughout the entire year, not just during the holidays. Whether it's providing personal items for the elderly, supporting fundraiser for homeless shelter, feeding the homeless, rebuilding area homes for our neighbors, mentoring junior laymen, or supporting our local health and human service agencies, you consistently demonstrate care for others while working together to help others in need.

I am thankful for everything you do, and for all of the unseen gifts you've shared with our community this year. May you and your family have a very happy and safe Thanksgiving!

Leno

Most of the participants and spectators at the game hailed from the St. Louis/East St. Louis metropolitan area and enjoyed some good clean fun and entertainment. In the first game, the “East Side” Laymen prevailed while the Shepherds from the “West Side” took home the honors. The real winners are the families able to receive shelter and services from the Second Chance Homeless Shelter as a result of the funds raised.

Kansas City, KS -- The newly created ministry for the National Baptist Laymen's Movement, Brush of Kindness, got off to a good start in Kansas City during the National Baptist Convention on September 9, 2010.

The National Laymen entered into a partnership with the Home Mission Board of the convention and Habitat for Humanity. The purpose is to assist home owners in making repairs to their homes. The targeted groups are the elderly, disadvantaged and veterans.

On September 6th, the partnership worked on two houses. There were winterizing of doors and windows, cleaning of gutters, painting and other small repairs.

This ministry adds to the other laymen outreach ministries, Acts of Kindness, Men & Women Homeless Shelters, Street Evangelism, and Prison Ministry that are conducted at the national meetings and regional workshops.
