MEN'S DAY OF PRAYER

Dear Brother Laymen & Supporters:

Baptist World Alliance

Men's World Day of Prayer

 Saturday, April 25, 2015

The World Day of Prayer offers an opportunity to involve the men in your church, but also to seek others in your sphere of influence, and those with whom you interact. Choose creative ways that will appeal to men through a prayer breakfast or evening worship service; week-end revival, community witnessing or other special event. Participate in the "Prayer heard around the world". Establish and promote an offering goal for Baptist Men's work around the world.  Plan, promote and conduct the event so that men can learn about the needs and personally respond through prayer, giving and reaching out to others.

The BWA Men's World Day of Prayer is an annual event on the fourth Saturday of April.  The BWA Men's Department sponsors this event and seeks to unite men in more than 200 Baptist Conventions and Unions around the World. This special day involves Baptist men worldwide, in a unified day of witnessing, prayer, giving, fellowship, inspiration and learning.

Baptist men all over the world will pray for God's help as they seek to bring the Gospel of Jesus Christ to every person in the world. Many will follow up their prayers by going into com-munities witnessing to the unsaved and will give financial gifts to send the message where they cannot personally go.

OBJECTIVES OF THE MEN'S WORLD DAY OF PRAYER

·         Recommit to living for Jesus Christ.

·         Rededicate to the mission of winning the souls for God's kingdom.

·         Pray for ways and opportunities for men to become actively involved in and dedicated to reach the whole world about the love of Jesus Christ for all.

·         Pray for power to find ways and opportunities for men to become actively involved in activities designed to reach the whole world with the gospel of Jesus Christ.

·         Give sacrificial offerings for Men's work around the world in order that men in every Baptist convention and union might be enlisted, trained and involved in these activities.

·         Witness to all people, on this day, as a part of the weekend's Lay Revival activities.

·         Fellowship to encourage other men to learn of international needs

Men's Groups around the world are encouraged to repeat the prayer below together at 11:00 a.m. and make telephone and video links where possible, in a time of communal prayer during the Day of Prayer.

Corporate Prayer

"Gracious God and Father, we gather to celebrate your love, your gift of salvation through Jesus Your Son. Guide us as Your earthly hands and feet to respond to the needs of Your people, we pray.

Everlasting God, make Your ways known unto us. Show Your power among all people. Anoint afresh Your leaders of the Baptist World Alliance and Auxiliaries as we journey in faith, into the next five year period.

Give added strength and courage to our sisters and brothers in Africa and the Middle East who are being persecuted because of belief in you. Grant hope to the hopeless and strength in these times of despair and disquiet that we are experiencing in our world.

Triune God, hear our prayer, as gladly we submit to Your will and Your way". Amen.

Subject: Smoke Alarm Installation Event--THANK YOU!

Good afternoon,

We here at the American Red Cross serving Eastern Missouri would like to take this opportunity to extend a big THANK YOU for helping us with our smoke alarm installation event over the weekend of March 7-8.

Because you were willing to give of your time, we were able to reach over 320 homes and install over 500 alarms!

None of this would have been possible with you, our wonderful volunteers.

· It was you who helped in the weeks leading up to the event, calling residents to confirm addresses and helping to recruit additional volunteers.

· It was you who helped put all of the materials—smoke alarms, batteries, paperwork, etc.—together before the event.

· It was you who spent several hours on either Saturday, Sunday, or both going to different homes with fire fighters to help install alarms and share lifesaving preparedness information.

· And it was you who made a wonderful impression on the residents of St. Louis whom you talked to. We have heard only amazing things about this event; a true testimony of your ability.

We have included a picture of all the homes we were able to reach over our two-day event. The green points are the homes we had identified heading in to the weekend. The yellow dots are the additional homes we were able to reach.

Again, THANK YOU for helping to make this the largest—and one of the most successful—installation canvassing events our region has held so far!

(P.S. If you enjoyed this event and would like to help again, we will be holding another event the weekend of April 18-19. More details to come! J)

Notice of Importance

Dear Brother Laymen:

In reviewing the National Baptist Board Meeting Minutes provided by Mr. Michael Washington, I am sharing pertinent information with you.

Our National President, Dr. Jerry Young, placed emphasis on the word TEAM (Together Everybody Achieves More). Leaving the thought, "It won't happen if we don't make it happen...we do it as a TEAM." So, I encourage each Layman's support as we work together in our National Convention.

The National President, Dr Jerry Young has asked preachers and laymen to assist in helping the convention liquidate our debts as a convention. The National Laymen's portion of this liquidation project (Gideon Fund) must be submitted to the Convention prior to April 20, 2015. I am requesting you prayerfully consider this request. We are asking Laymen that will contribute $100.00 prior to April 20th.2015. You have been selected to be a member of this Gideon Fund drive for our convention. Please be prayerful concerning this project and submit your contribution as God has blessed you to do so.

Please send your contribution by April 11, 2015. Checks or money orders can be made payable to: National Baptist Laymen Movement:
Mr. Jerry Williams
5801 Arabian Run
Indianapolis, IN 46228

Bro. Williams will receive your contributions and forward the records and the total contributions to our Treasurer Bro. Antonio Christian who will submit the funds to the convention in the name of the National Baptist Laymen on April 20, 2015.

Thank you for your participation, and may God continue to bless each of you as you bless the work of our Convention.

Sincerely,

Willie R Burke
